Crimson Desert's faction system is far deeper than early trailers suggested. With 110 factions confirmed in the codex, it's a central pillar of the experience. Here's everything we know.
110 Factions: A Dense Political World
The codex reveals **110 factions** spread across the continent of [Pywel](/world). Each faction has its own quest system, NPCs, and rewards. The density is impressive: just in the Hernand area, you'll find the Pororine Forest Guardians and city services, representing 87 tasks.
How Does Reputation Work?
Reputation with each faction increases through several methods:
- **Completing faction quests**: the primary method, via bulletin boards or NPCs - **Performing regional commissions**: side tasks tied to inhabitants - **Giving gifts to citizens**: a slower method, requiring many gifts before significant impact - **Exploring and discovering**: certain world discoveries increase local reputation
Regional Currencies
Each major region has its **own currency**. Contribution and reputation in a region generate these currencies that are usable locally. Currencies for Hernand, Pune, and other regions have been confirmed.
What Are Regional Currencies Used For?
- **Buy unique regional items**: equipment, crafting materials, and region-exclusive consumables - **Access locked zones**: some locations require sufficient regional contribution - **Unlock side quests**: certain quests only appear at specific reputation levels - **Hire workers**: one of the most interesting uses
The Worker System
Regional currency allows you to **recruit workers** in each region. Two possible uses:
Resource Gathering
Workers can be sent to automatically harvest resources for your camp. They bring back shipments on a recurring basis — a very useful passive system for accumulating crafting materials without farming.
Influence Reduction Missions
Workers can also be sent on **strategic missions** to reduce enemy faction influence. This seems tied to the territory management and inter-faction warfare system running in the background.
Camp Dynamic Economy
The Greymanes' camp features a **goblin merchant** with a **dynamic economy** system. Prices fluctuate by week with visible price curves, allowing you to buy and sell at the best times. A true trading system adding a strategic layer to resource management.
Tips for Optimizing Reputation
1. **Focus on one region at a time**: currencies are regional, no need to spread thin 2. **Do regional commissions**: they're quick and efficiently boost reputation 3. **Don't forget gifts**: even if slow, every gesture counts 4. **Invest in workers early**: passive resource gain is a cumulative advantage 5. **Watch the goblin merchant's prices**: buy low, sell high
